Abstract

The study aimed to examine the influence of competitive attitude on individual work performance and innovative work behaviour. Literature was reviewed to deepen the concept of the study. The study used assessment and correlational research design. The population of the study was all employees of the institution where the study was conducted and therefore total enumeration sampling was applied. Questionnaires were used to gather the data and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study found that competitive attitude was moderate, while individual work performance and innovative work behaviour were high. The Pearson r correlation coefficient suggests that there is a significant and positive correlation between competitive attitude,  individual work performance and innovative work behaviour. Thus, the hypothesis is accepted. The study recognizes its limitation because of its limited population and variables measured. Thus, it is necessary to include more population and wider context and variables that measure competitive attitude and its effect on innovative work behaviour.
